Iris Hantverk is a small Swedish maker, 17 employees strong in the core business of brush binding. Yet, at its heart, Iris Hantverk is about goods creating economy and fulfillment for six visually impaired craftsmen from different cultures who make brushes according to an old Swedish tradition. They also work with visually impaired craftsmen in Estonia.
Iris Hantverk's Vision is to revive the traditional brush binding trade. By making functional products with good design combined with high quality, natural materials, and the craftsperson's solid technique.
We love Iris Hantverk's dedication to high-quality handcraft and we appreciate the longevity that comes from their dedication to natural materials and quality fabrication.
Each time we pick up and use one of their products - or simply see it in a room - it brings us joy, a joy that plastic cannot.
The Placewares family has special needs members. As a family, we find strength in walking through adversity; one of those challenges we addressed was disabilities. We know the value of a person is in the uniqueness of their own soul and strengths. No two souls are alike. And, that's a great thing.
We are honored to represent Iris Hantverk products. Thank you for supporting this brand, which is doing good work in the world. And, to boot, they make a heck of a good product.
