We fell in love with Toyo steel boxes during a trip to Japan. A few made their way back to the U.S. with us in our suitcases and they are now found throughout Placewares' home: on desktops to hold supplies, in the utility room to hold household tools and in dresser drawers to help keep them tidy.
The camber-top box is handcrafted by steel artisans in Japan from initial steel folding to final assembly steps. The maker's unique process of deep drawing on technology involves stamping and folding steel instead of cutting and seaming it, which eliminates sharp edges and creates a more sturdy, lightweight structure.
